Rijsttafel

My Grandma was born in Indonesia to Dutch and German parents, and one of the traditions that they had there was Rijsttafel (pronounced Rice Tafel), which means rice table in Dutch. It is an Indonesian meal that begins with a base of rice, and has anywhere from 10-30 different dishes served with it. Here is my family's experience....

Amanda and Erica fried the bananas.

Mom cooked the corn pancakes.

Justin and Audra's baby Elinor provided the cuteness factor!

A bunch of us skewered the beef for kabobs.

We all enjoyed watching Grandma fry the shrimp crackers.

Kaye and I patiently waited for dinner time.

The complete meal.

WOW!! What a feast!

What a great day of food and family!
