I have been doing a Bible Study with two of my friends, Mara and Melissa, through the book of Philippians. This week we were studying chapter two, and these verses really stuck out to me...
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but with humility of mind, let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:3-4
It is so easy to get caught up in our own little worlds, focusing on "me"; all the while we are completely missing those who are hurting around us. Or worse yet, we see the need and ignore it because we do not want to inconvenience ourselves and give of our time. As Christians, we are not supposed to be that way, but are to model our lives after the greatest Servant of all, Jesus. I pray that it is and will be so in my life!
Here is one of my favorite songs that speaks to our need to reach out to those around us...Give Me Your Eyes.
- Looked down from a broken sky
- Traced out by the city lights
- My world from a mile high
- Best seat in the house tonight
- Touched down on the cold black top
- Hold on for the sudden stop
- Breathe in the familiar shock
- Of confusion and chaos
- All those people going somewhere,
- Why have I never cared?
- Give me Your eyes for just one second
- Give me Your eyes so I can see
- Everything that I keep missing
- Give me Your love for humanity
- Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
- Ones that are far beyond my reach.
- Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
- Give me Your eyes so I can see
- Step out on a busy street
- See a girl and our eyes meet
- Does her best to smile at me
- To hide what's underneath
- There's a man just to her right
- Black suit and a bright red tie
- Too ashamed to tell his wife
- He's out of work
- He's buying time
- All those people going somewhere
- Why have I never cared?
- Give me Your eyes for just one second
- Give me Your eyes so I can see
- Everything that I keep missing
- Give me Your love for humanity
- Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
- Ones that are far beyond my reach.
- Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
- Give me Your eyes so I can see.
- I've been there a million times
- A couple of million eyes
- Just moving passed me by
- I swear I never thought that I was wrong
- Well I want a second glance
- So give me a second chance
- To see the way you see the people all along
- Give me Your eyes for just one second
- Give me Your eyes so I can see
- Everything that I keep missing
- Give me Your love for humanity
- Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
- Ones that are far beyond my reach.
- Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
- Give me Your eyes so I can see.

That's a great reminder, Karen! Thanks for sharing how God's speaking to you.
Hi,
I've been thinking alot about those verses too. I'm looking forward to discussing more this week about them.
Love the words to this song too. It's so helpful when biblical truths are placed in a great song.
Love you.
