Those of you who know me well know that I am a sentimental girl who loves traditions and memories. So when I remembered that May Day was coming up, I was transported back to the days when I was in grade school, and I relived the May Day celebrations that we had. I distinctly remember coming home from school, trying my hardest to sneak up the driveway and up to the door without my mom seeing me, and dropping off my basket and running like mad to hide behind a tree. I rejoiced in my seeming victory; I'm sure she must've seen me. But being the kind mother she is, she let me think that I was successful!
Inspired by these memories, I thought that it would be fun to make some May Day baskets for some friends and neighbors here. So I set to work, making cookies on skewers to look like flowers, and then decorated them and tied green ribbon "leaves" on the stems. A spring poem and verse of Scripture topped off the baskets. I am looking forward to delivering them today!

Happy May Day everyone!
The finished project!
